Industrial Resin Flooring Installation for a Commercial Unit

At 4m Floors, we recently completed a resin flooring project inside a large commercial unit, transforming a worn and patchy concrete surface into a clean, hard-wearing, professional floor finish.

The existing floor had seen plenty of use. Before any coating could be applied, the surface needed proper preparation to remove weak material, smooth out the substrate and create the right profile for the resin system to bond correctly.

As with every resin flooring project, preparation was key.

Preparing the Existing Concrete Floor

When we arrived on site, the existing floor had already reached the stage where full preparation work was needed before the new resin system could be installed properly.

The surface showed clear signs of mechanical preparation, with the slab opened up and key areas repaired to ensure the floor was ready for coating. In one of the early images, you can also see a repaired line in the slab, highlighting the attention given to getting the substrate right before the resin application began.

For any industrial resin flooring system, this part of the process is critical. A high-quality finish depends on the condition of the base underneath it.

Resin Coat Application DPM

Once preparation was complete, the resin system began to go down.

The middle-stage images show a black resin coat DPM being applied across the unit. This created a sealed, durable layer across the prepared concrete and clearly shows the transition from raw substrate to coated floor.

These installation-stage photos are a great example of how dramatically the space starts to change once the coating system is applied.

Damp Proof Membrane Installation

Following the mechanical preparation of the existing concrete slab, a black damp proof membrane layer was installed across the floor.

This is an important stage in the resin flooring system, especially in commercial and industrial units where moisture can be present within the concrete. If moisture is not controlled properly, it can affect the performance of the finished floor over time.

The DPM layer helps create a moisture-tolerant barrier between the prepared concrete and the final resin coating. This gives the finished floor system the correct base to bond to, while helping protect it from potential moisture-related issues.

Once the DPM had been applied and allowed to cure, the floor was ready for the final grey resin finish. This careful build-up of the system ensures the completed floor is not only clean and professional in appearance, but also durable, practical and suitable for long-term use.

A Cleaner, Brighter and More Durable Finish

The finished floor has completely changed the look and feel of the space. What started as a worn concrete slab is now a smart, seamless resin floor with a clean grey finish.

The new surface is:

  • Hard-wearing

  • Easy to clean

  • Low maintenance

  • Dust-resistant

  • Professional in appearance

  • Suitable for commercial and industrial use

The light grey finish also helps brighten the unit, reflecting more light and giving the whole space a cleaner, more modern feel.
